==============================================================================================================

Dio the Stygian starts out pretty weak, with a dysfunctional basic attack that strikes slow and inconsistently. His weakness is further accentuated by his more powerful skills locked away near the very end of the Stygian skill tree, making it difficult for Dio to come out strong initially.

Beginners will find his first state difficult to handle against the likes of Silver Land bosses, more of a tedium, than difficult, as he is made to start there upon attaining him. His beginning SP amount also restricts him to very basic attacks which barely fare well against his adversaries. Some patience will be required before he can commence his job change for Drakar, his 2nd class, and towards attaining better skills and techniques.

Dodge:
  • Type: Blink
  • Dio right now, would have 3 options of evasion (2 types of Blink and now Dodge), but their operative use is different by the way they control the evasion mechanism. This can cause a slight confusion in using the right Dodge/Blink move
  • *This portion will be the same across all Dio articles by the way*
  • Blink has a short delay before activation, meaning you can get countered out of the move if you used it too late against an incoming attack. It's 3 second cooldown is also a limitation if you have a sudden need to evade continuously.
  • Dodge on the other hand has no delay, can be used consecutively until your meter runs out, albeit limited in use, and allow you to dodge repeatedly until you find safety. You will need to manually control your direction of escape however.

Notes:
  • Stygian scythe specials now deal reasonable damage after the Eternity patch.
  • Tech cancelling is no longer possible. This applies entirely to Dio and other AP characters alike. Skills however, can be used to interrupt another skill.

Skill Tree Setup: Passives

Increased AP Recovery Rate / Amount of AP at Start:
The former benefits more for dungeons for extended combat. The latter benefits for PvP if you need an AP boost during the start of matches.

Increased Dash Speed:
Self-explanatory.

Blink:
A forward-moving Blink which passes through enemies to get behind them. It doesn't allow Dio to cross physical obstacles though. Lv2 reduces the cooldown time from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.

Reduced Counterattack Cooldown:
Default cooldown begins at 10 seconds. Each level gives a -1 to cooldown, bringing the total down to 8 seconds.

Increased Critical Strike Chance:
Self-explanatory, stops at Lv2.

Techniques:

Death Star Upper Cut (6 AP)
  • Type: Impact
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Burst
  • The attack strikes twice, with the 2nd hit producing the "Impact" of the attack, which tosses enemies behind Dio.
  • There is quite a delay before the impact occurs.
  • The level increases the throwing height of the enemy and damage dealt.
Dominate (6 AP)
  • Type: Linear
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Multi
  • Dio's Rake Hand extends itself to draw enemies in closer to Dio as it hits them.
  • Dominate can have it's strike distance increased.
Shatter Fist (6 AP)
  • Type: One-Shot, Impact
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Burst
  • Dio's Rake Hand slams into the ground, producing a large shockwave that tosses affected enemies in range high into the air.
  • Rake Hand can be used after the launching effect for aerial damage.

  • The level increases damage dealt.
Rake Hand (46 AP)
  • Type: One-Shot, Impact
  • Range: Short
  • Damage: Burst
  • Animation: Short
  • Dio readies the Rake Hand and claws it's way up into the air, tossing enemies with it.

Necrotic (76 AP)

  • Rake Hand can be used after the launching effect for aerial damage.
Black Space (76 AP)
  • Type: AoE: Small
  • Range: Mid
  • Damage: Multi

  • Blink can be used with Black Space to escape impending danger. However, it must only be used after the electric field appears.
